Taking autonomous decisions through creating their own plans based on up-to-date information and re-planning in response to unexpected events or anomalous conditions would greatly improve the efficiency of a mission, system safety, and potentially reduce the cost of Ground operations.<\/p>\n<!-- \/divi:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- divi:paragraph -->\n<p>The OMC-ARE project is an international research project, carried out by a consortium of&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/es.fbk.eu\/\">Embedded Systems Unit<\/a>&nbsp;of&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fbk.eu\/\">FBK-irst<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thalesgroup.com\/space\/\">Thales Alenia Space<\/a>, and funded by the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.esa.int\/esaCP\/index.html\">European Space Agency<\/a>.<\/p>\n<!-- \/divi:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- divi:paragraph -->\n<p>This project aims at proposing an approach to on-board autonomy, based on model-based reasoning.
